Race Ready guide 6 of 12 · Nottingham Physio · 31 August 2026
Running is a repeated part of HYROX, not simply the distance between the stations you enjoy most. If running is your main concern, it helps to distinguish a clinical assessment of pain from a dedicated running-analysis appointment.
Start with the question, then choose the service
Are you trying to understand a new injury, discuss recurring running symptoms or examine your running technique in more detail? These are related questions, but they do not necessarily need the same booking.
Our RunningLAB service page describes dedicated video gait analysis and biomechanical assessment options. Race Ready is a standard initial physiotherapy consultation; it does not automatically include a full RunningLAB package. Check suitability and the separate service price before booking.
What a useful running conversation includes
Bring your usual weekly running pattern, not just your fastest session. Include the surface, typical footwear and whether runs follow strength or station work. If you have symptoms, describe when they start, how they change and what happens after the session.
Tell the clinician what you would like to understand from video or testing. A useful question might be whether a particular training task can be adjusted, or which information is needed to guide rehabilitation. A recording should answer a question; it is not a reason by itself to replace every aspect of your stride.
Make changes that can be evaluated
If your clinician recommends a change, ask how to practise it, what response to monitor and when it will be reviewed. Record the starting point so there is something meaningful to compare later. Your plan should be clear enough that you understand the purpose of each change.
Do not chase a universal ideal running style from a single screenshot. Ask how the observation relates to your symptoms, training and goals, and whether there are other explanations worth considering.
Pain comes before performance targets
The NHS running-injury guide explains when common symptoms need professional assessment. A painful run is not an invitation to push harder while filming your technique. New or worsening symptoms should be assessed through an appropriate clinical route.
If you are unsure where to begin, contact Nottingham Physio. Explain whether pain or running analysis is your main reason for booking; do not send detailed medical information through social comments.
Book an individual assessment
The standard Race Ready initial physiotherapy appointment is £65 for 55 minutes at Everlast+ Gyms, Wilford. Select Physiotherapy – Initial Consultation in Zanda and check the clinician and fee before confirming. No gym membership required. Separate specialist services and follow-ups have their own fees.
