Expert Running Coaching Tailored For You
Running is one of the best ways to stay fit and boost your mental well-being, but it can also lead to injuries. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting out, our team understands the unique challenges you face. We’re here to guide you through every step of your running journey, helping you stay injury-free and achieve your personal best.
Understand Your Running Style To Run Smarter
Our Running and Biomechanical Analysis uses advanced video and data analysis to provide deep insights into your running technique. We assess key factors like stride length, foot contact, cadence, and body posture to help you understand how you move and where you can improve.
Customised Training Plans For Every Runner
Based on the results of your Running and Biomechanical Analysis, we’ll create a personalised Strength and conditioning programme designed to correct imbalances, improve your form, and keep you running efficiently. Whether you’re training for a marathon or just looking to enjoy a casual run without pain, we’ve got you covered.
Technology We Use
At the Nottingham Physio RunningLAB, we utilise cutting-edge video gait analysis and running dynamics technology. Our Running Biomechanical Analysis provides deep insights into your running technique. We assess key factors to measure:

What Happens at Your Assessment?
01
Discovery Call
Before your appointment, we offer a free 15-minute discovery call to determine which assessment is right for you. Whether you're looking to refine your technique or recover from an injury, we'll help you select the most suitable package.
02
Pre-Assessment Form
Once you’ve booked your session, you’ll receive a pre-assessment form via email. Completing this in advance helps us understand your running background and tailor the session for maximum benefit.
03
Video Gait Analysis & Data Review
This is the heart of your session. Using video and advanced running dynamics technology, we record your running from multiple angles. We then slow down the footage and go through it together, highlighting areas of inefficiency and key opportunities for improvement.
04
Running Form Adjustments
After analysing your gait, we begin making real-time modifications to your running technique using verbal cues, movement drills, and tactile adjustments. You’ll feel immediate improvements in running efficiency and form.
05
Biomechanical Assessment
Then we conduct a biomechanical assessment to establish your baseline mobility, strength, and movement patterns. We'll identify any pre-existing weaknesses that may contribute to inefficiencies or injuries.
06
Personalised Strength Plan
To reinforce and sustain the improvements from your session, you’ll receive a customised strength & conditioning plan designed specifically for runners. The structured plan will integrate new movement patterns and build strength for injury-free, faster running.

FAQs
Do I need to be an elite athlete to have a gait analysis?
No! Anyone passionate about improving their running is welcome. Whether you’re looking to improve your time at a parkrun, training for a marathon, or focused on an ambitious goal, knowing more about how you run helps you unlock your true potential.
What should I bring?
Wear your usual running gear – preferably shorts. If you rotate between multiple running shoes, bring all of them with you.
Is a gait analysis worth it?
Yes! Our insights help prevent injuries and optimise performance. Knowing more about your body will help you to reach your goals and smash those milestones!
How can you help with Shin Splints?
Shin pain can be influenced by training load, recovery, strength, running technique and other individual factors. We assess your history and running pattern before recommending appropriate changes rather than prescribing one landing style for every runner.
Read our article to learn more about shin pain and its management.
How can you help with Runner’s Knee?
Overstriding often contributes to knee pain referred to as “Runner’s Knee”. To help you overcome this, during your clinical running gait analysis session, we’ll adjust your gait to reduce joint stress and improve your overall efficiency.
