Your First HYROX: Five Questions to Bring to Physiotherapy

Race Ready guide 11 of 12 · Nottingham Physio · 31 August 2026

Your first HYROX can bring plenty of practical questions: how the event works, how training fits around life and what to do if pain interrupts preparation. Physiotherapy is most useful when you bring a clear concern, not an expectation that every first-time racer needs treatment.

1. What do I need help understanding?

Describe the problem in your own words. It might be pain during a run, uncertainty after an injury or a movement you have started avoiding. You do not need to arrive with the name of a condition. Explain what changed and what you would like to be able to do.

2. What information from my training is useful?

Bring a simple outline of running, gym sessions and station practice, including recent changes. If you work on your feet or do another sport, include that too. Tell the clinician what you have already tried and whether it helped, made no difference or made symptoms worse.

3. What does my event actually involve?

Use the official HYROX race information and current rulebooks for your format and division. Share your event date and whether you are entering alone or with a partner. Do not rely on an old social graphic for current rules.

The event information helps explain your goals. It does not replace clinical advice or make a painful task safe simply because it appears in the competition.

4. What should I do between appointments?

Ask for a clear explanation of the next step, including any agreed activity changes, exercises and review arrangements. If the plan does not fit your time or equipment, say so before leaving. Make sure you know who to contact if your symptoms change.

5. What would change the plan?

Ask about uncertainty. What findings would prompt referral? What would mean the current approach needs reviewing? How will the decision about training be revisited? These questions are more useful than asking for a guaranteed date on which every symptom will disappear.

Choose a clinical starting point

Race Ready is Nottingham Physio’s initial physiotherapy offer for adults with HYROX training concerns. You can meet the team and compare appointment options before booking. It is not an official HYROX service or race-clearance test. If you are training comfortably, you do not need an appointment just because the event is new to you.

Book an individual assessment

The standard Race Ready initial physiotherapy appointment is £65 for 55 minutes at Everlast+ Gyms, Wilford. Select Physiotherapy – Initial Consultation in Zanda and check the clinician and fee before confirming. No gym membership required. Separate specialist services and follow-ups have their own fees.
